Too Much Roving

On the last day of SAFF, it started to sink in that I have too much roving, especially since I had just dropped off more dyed fiber at Zeilingers. It occurred to me that I could have these rovings refreshed and made into felting batts! I wouldnt have to pack them back into the van! My storage problem was solved!! What a brilliant idea! I patted myself on the back for 2 weeks, until those 2 gigantic boxes boomeranged back to my doorstep.

But my UH-OH is now an OH YES!!

It might not look like much to you, but this is exhibit A: what a fabulous way to get multilayered, luminous color!

I learned at lot of things how to manage edges; how to manage shrinkage; how to make felt smooth or rough. But the BIGGEST thing that I learned was how to use inlays pre-felting and then cutting, placing shapes onto another piece. The possibilities!!
